Called Out As A Racist...Who, Me??

Around the corner is just getting to be more and more fun. Today, I was called out by one of those idiot anons for being a racist. My racist remark (now get this) was that I noticed the country of origin spelling of his/her original post, between offence (British) and offense (American). Haul me off and and make me a jailer on...oh, where was that prison in South Africa where Nelson Mandela was jailed for 27 years? Now I remember, Robben Island. Yeah, I can hardly wait to start abusing shackled, defenceless (British spelling, notice) prisoners. Oh rats, the country's gone democratic and all that apartheid crap is history.

Or maybe I was being a racist for objecting to the anon's comment about someone being a "phobed out closet case". Hey, I'm as tolerant as the next black, Jewish lesbian (had you fooled, didn't I?), but the comment was ridiculous and was obviously meant as an insult.

All of this started because Brokeback Mountain was a subject of discussion. I thought the movie was cheated out of an Academy Award by a cowardly group of Academy voters. I thought the subject was handled with tact and dignity and left me feeling a great deal of sympathy for the lead characters. Beside that, it was a beautifully filmed movie. I'm sorry that my accuser liked the movie too. That is one too many things in common for me.

PMT, where are you? It is time to get back out here and start offending some people, amusing others and letting everybody know just where you stand!

Brilliantly said, CA! No "anonybomber" will ever be a match for CC, Dennis, et al!

Grace, class, humor, brains& bravery shall prevail (plus the button that deletes unwanted posts)!

Thanks for being the voice of reason---(pjb-chgo)

Hi PJB, Just checking in after dinner out with friends to see if anybody has visited here lately, other than myself. Thanks for the nice comments.

I just read your profile. I think you might enjoy stopping by more often. You seem to be one of those quirky (meant in the nicest possible way) people who would enjoy the conversations and occasional silliness that sometimes goes on around here. Feel free to post a comment, or several, under the latest heading. Somebody is sure to read and respond.

Now if I can just draw Windhover, WM and PMT out of their dens......

Have a good evening.

I'm here! Woo Hoo!

We had to go to one more opening tonight because the effing Art League didn't have their act together and waitied until this week to open the downstairs big gallery show which turned out to be pretty much crap anyway!

I actually had people come to my show because of the...get this...2 1/2 pg spread in the very center of the paper with color photos and all! WOOT! I also found out tonight that if the PAL had gotten the info out on time so that I( and many others) could have participated in something called the Silicon Valley Open Studios that I would have been invited to be in their invitation only Fall show. One of their reps came by to ask me to be in the show and now I have to wait until next year! BLEH! He is sending me all the info so I won't be left out.

Now...CA I came here to see if anyone had posted and saw your rant and just started laughing...I thought you let that ugly anon off the hook pretty easily. That was great...you of all people... racist...LMAO! Actually, it would be easier if D would delete as it would remove some of the satifaction of the nastymonger.

My son in law said that people can just cruise through blogs by clicking on "next blog", but this particular one seems to have been lurking for a bit...We really need to just ignore this tripe...elephant in the room and all that. The response is what they want to generate as that is what gives them the power...ignore and it eventually moves on to somewhere it can get a response.

PJB...Hiya...stay with us. If we can lure PMT and WH out, we can get some really interesting discussions going...we'll discuss pretty much anything here. You are a great addition to the CCblog and just so you know, some of us left coasters do read the late posts... :o)

CA...you are just great! Miss the discussions here. Did you notice that now that Calif is so cash strapped that the legal and taxable marijuana item is back on the table?..Some right wing Senator said that it would be like legalizing prostitution...Hello! The state could clean that mess up and tax it and we could end with enough money that the taxpayers could get bonus $...Jeez those guys crack me up.

Well...that's enough for tonight...see y'all.

OK, I'm in.
It seems like the game of the week is guessing who
the idiot anon is. Why don't we approach this by eliminating possible candidates. We all know that PMT recently visited London, and that culture tends to "rub off" on people, and the anon has used some British spellings. Very suspicious. Also, the anon is very opinionated and has a highly developed sense of moral outrage. Even more suspicious.
But the anon is obviously not the sharpest knife in the drawer, does not, as Tarrajo said, have the cajones to sign its name, and attacks people indiscriminately. So PMT is out of the dock.
Now, the anon (most likely the same one) last week used the word "tripe" to describe the blog. And WM used the word "tripe" in her comment above. Hmmmm........
Defense, anyone?

PBJ:
hang around. Summertime seems to have pulled us all away from this corner (not much loafing time), but we are a group that has a lot of fun with words, crossed and otherwise.

Damn!
Either I really am just a stupid farmer, or the Iphone is doing its word substitution whammy again, but I think I typed P-J-B. Anyway, I stand (self) corrected.

Clear Ayes said...

Heee's baaacck...and about time too.

WH, Do you suppose PMT is coaching one of his pooches to type and that is how the moral outrage, continental spelling and less than swift uptake has been merged into one mystery poster?

You also bring up the subject of "tripe". Hmmm, in addition to using the word, WM has copped to knowing how to cut up a steer. She is one of the few people I know who is actually aware of what it is and where tripe might be located. There is also the strong possibility that she has eaten it at one time or another. She's been to France! That definitely makes her a suspect.

Then....YOU have been among the missing for a while. Have you been "too busy" cutting hay (what a ridiculous story!) to post as alter ego Windhover? Has your Iphone been overtaken with sizzling insults hurled at we "chosen ones"? (Yes, we are...you know in your heart, we are!) You put up a good front of being "a stupid farmer". Perhaps, you really are and the rest of us have been duped into believing that you are a philosophical agrarianist with a sharp wit and ready scythe.

While we're at it, there's me. What a clever cover to insult myself, and then mount a witty (well, I thought so) defense (defence??..I've been to England too, you know, AND I lived in Canada for several years) in order to make myself indispensable to...to...well, somebody!

Then, there is always the possibility that Colonel Mustard did it in the library with the rope.

Actually, both WM and I noticed that one poster was chastised for an inappropriate comment a few days ago and the anons started coming shortly thereafter. Coincidence? Probably. There is likely more than one anon. There are more than enough foolish, skewed and untrue comments to be made than for just one person to hoard them.

Come on PMT. Draw that saber and defend yourself and your dog too!!

ClearAyes:
You make several interesting cases. Certainly, there is enough guilt to go around, except that as nonbelievers, you and I are not genetically (via the Augustinian concept of Original Sin) susceptible to guilt.
I guess we could (in the finest tradition of liberals) institute a circular firing squad so that all the innocents suffer, although a much better resolution would be the kissing cousin of the cfs, the circle jerk. Thus, instead of the ultimate punishment, the result would be la petite mors, an experience, I am told, some people can "suffer" multiply.
I, of course, stand ready to take my punishment like a man.

You guys are apparently just amusing the hell out yourselves today...Here I am trying to paint in this lovely overcast weather and I take a break and...

If you think I am going to fess up to that tripe...uh, erm, codswallop, you're nuts...and take all my fun away! WHAHAHAHAHA(evil laugh...I think I have to practice that)Very good deductive reasoning, but I think that CA makes a valid point about the misdirection( a great Christi ploy), the spelling issue and that Canadian bit, eh?

I do like PJB's annybomber...that's pretty much what it is...and WH you're not entirely off the hook...too many days haying in the sun...just a bit off balance maybe, or your iPhone has been posessed by an evil viral blogging worm, although I am seriously leaning towards PMT's pooch...or possibly one of the birds.

And now, I gotta s'cuse myself and get back to the easel. WH...petite morTs(?)

And I hate tripe...Menudo...yuck!

Thanks for your great notes/posts---you.all are more clever than me/I, but I love a juicy mystery,& AM the son of an FBI agent, so I must have inherited some sleuthing
skills, right? The case is getting curious-er & curious-er: we do know TJ is a frequent target of anon snipers, so maybe since D is often a"protector" of the bullied, the anon aims his/her moral outrage to end the"weak/strong" dyad,-maybe-feeling-left-out? Anon leaves
C-C marginally off"the hitlist"--hmmm?
We also know that anonybomber takes
"offence" at
perceived racism & homophobia--BUT doesn't use the usual wording that people of color or g/l's would retort with! I can't concoct anything re: a "regular" posing as an anon, 'cuz I don't know the potential
"suspects" enough to know who bears what grudges against whom,-so, that & a new basil plant from today's farmers' mkt is all I got!
Keep me posted, thanks--I'm off to pseudo-host a comedy thing for our amateur group--7 minutes of material, some intros, & I can sit back & applaud & cheer. Thanks for keeping
me in

WM,
Caught out again. That was French with a Kentucky accent. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

And I believe we have some strong suspects for the mischief around the corner. Like my Dad, I'm a Do as I say and not as I do, but we really need to just ignore the bastard(s).

WH...I have trouble typing with a whole computer...I could never manage an iPhone...You still get to stay at the top of my list of favorite agrarian, philosopher smartasses. LOL

PJB may have added some additional, interesting info...another agent in our midst.

PJB...so glad you have joined us...You do realize that you are just one letter rearrangement off of Peanut Butter and Jelly...

Heya...did anyone read the Newsweek article about Eric Holder? He may be deciding to go after the torture issue after all, special prosecutor and the whole nine yards. And... Darth Vader Cheney is being named by Panetta in this recent CIA/covert operation thing. That could cut into Cheney's book sales...Will keep updated on that.

PJB...I just read your profile...where have you been all our lives? And low-sodium anything...BLEH :oP

I used to do PR work for a comedy club and drive the comedians to radio and TV appearances...will have to share experiences...

PMT...I think the unpacking is done and stop teaching the birds to type.

Silliness is in the air.

Interesting punishment, WH. May the innocent (us) suffer just as much as the guilty (everyone else).

PJB, glad to see you join us. Sounds like your evening is going to be fun.

Now that the "hounds of hell" (Hi, WM and WH :o) are hot on my trail, I'd best lay low for a while. My excuse...and I'm sticking to this one...is that another batch of Swedish relatives are descending for a few days. This is the lovely daughter, plus husband and two kids, of the lovely cousin who visited in May. There will be a BBQ and swim party at my daughter's place tomorrow and then it is back up to the Mother Lode to sightsee, pan for gold, etc. We are getting very good at tour guiding and they are, as I said, lovely people, so it should be fun.

I'll try to check in if I can before Wednesday.

CA...got your back until then.

I'm..baaaack! Lots of "unorignal sins" on display--laughs too--tonight, good clean-yet-sticky fun, no tears, no mysteries to solve except why one of Chicago's premier attorneys actually brought her p-a-r-e-n-t-s to see her perform: she had a solid, tight set, but her outfit was,um, sparkly--like what one wears to go salsa dancing in a really bad neighborhood! Her folks kept giving me compliments on how much "Suzi" had "blossomed" since starting comedy "lessons!" as if I were a counselor at summer therapy-camp for awkward teenagers--ugh

Anyway, thanks for including me in your band of innocent-looking rabble-rousers--CA, enjoy your Swedes! My MILE (mom-in-law equivalent) was born in Göteborg & for Christmas gave me a couple vintage Pippi books which she usually insists I read...aloud--Ya never heard such lamea$$ Swedish in your life...but hey,she laughs & makes HIGH-sodium dinners for us..so that's fair in mybook!...Time for me to quit blabbing--train's almost at my stop...happy Sunday,y'all--peanut jelly butter-guy

PJB...just some info for you on this blog...it is a very random thing and sometimes we post a lot and sometimes several days will go by before someone think of something to comment on...so don't be discouraged if you find that there is nothing new.

The rule we set, for convenience, was to post on the most recent blog, regardless of subject matter, and if something occurs to you that you want to comment on, go for it. You may get a response, or not.

Once our Fearless Leader gets back with us the discussions may be more frequent, or not...we are a very random group, so don't be discouraged and please stay with us.

I love the lawyer/comedian story...everyone wants to be a comedian...tough job. I can remember one of the comedians telling me that he had finally had an HBO special and they loved it and wanted another hour special...he was upset because the first special was material he had worked on over 10 years...all his best stuff!

Hope you stick around. Cheers.
