BIG Slussen project

Thanks for the info guys. It is good to hear that C.C. is not quitting her blog or having any serious health issues.

WH,
That is correct. We have nine days remaining. Rich and I leave a week from this Friday and we will arrive in Stockholm the following Saturday. We will be there for two nights before boarding our ship. We are very excited about it. Now, if we can just get the little blind dog to stop tearing all of her hair out. We had a blood test done and found that she is allergic to many things that we had been feeding her. At first that appeared to solve her problem, but then she started up again. It is a good thing our baby sitter is a nurse.

Clear Ayes,
I guess you must be familiar with the Slussen area of Stockholm. Had you heard about this project to redo it. It sounds like a massive undertaking. Hopefully it will not turn out to be their version of the Big Dig.

PMT, I've got no problem with BIG or any other company's plan for Slussen, as long as they don't mess with Gamla Stan. You'll see what I mean when you get there. Gamla Stan is such a lovely area, that it would be a shame to overpower it with 21st century modernization. Sweden is pretty careful though and I expect they will make sure that the modernization doesn't interfere with the historical.

Please do try to keep in touch and send us your travel blog thoughts. You spend the money and we'll get the enjoyment...at least some of it, via your comments and photos.

Don't forget the Vasa Museum...very impressive!

PMT...so glad to hear you are finally getting excited about your adventure...I would be bouncing off the walls. So sorry to hear about the doggy problems...one always wants to do the best for them...could the recent bout be because of the trip preperations? Out cats always seemed to know when I was getting ready to go somewhere and they really started getting needy when the suitcase came out...I think that sometimes they wanted to be packed along with my things.

I had a couple of ideas for things to discuss and then sat down to watch Keith Olberman on the computer...which is finally running like a son-of-a-gun...WOOT. The lead story was about some new memos from 2003 where Dub is quoted saying that God told him to go into Afghanistan and God told him to fight the infidel in Iraq...and that, with the help of someone in the Pentagon, Rumsfeld hand delivered, most days, war reports with photos and bible quotes. I think I just want to go bang my head on the wall a bit...I always thought that those early speeches of Dub's had a "crusading" overtone...now it turns that I was right. I just have to think about it for a bit. That, and the fact that CA will be election officiating all day tomorrow...a short break, then off we go.

WH... I will check in as I have plans to paint tomorrow...the fog has arrived and all is well with the world...well...except for mom. But, that's another day, another story.

It is very cool that I am now part of my radio guy's extended family...

PMT...I AM excited for you...I shall live vicariously.

CA...I was typing while you were...thanks for the additional info on the video. I seems like a very modernizing project. All that "underground" area would concern me...in Scotland where I stay, they built all these lovely tiled and decorated passages under a number of major streets...they weren't that long and generally well lit but they are awful to tranverse almost anytime of the day and I wouldn't go there at night...but maybe the Swedes are better at that kind of thing...Have a good day tomorrow and the fog is on the way to cool you down.
